You’ve created a Facebook page, you’ve posted to it with hotel milestones once a month, you’ve even set up a special offer when your occupancy was low in hopes someone saw the link. But you keep scratching your head: “what do I post about today, and how do I get people to care?”
It’s extremely important to create a rhythm of posts to keep your hotel in the conversation and top of mind for travelers. You have an amazing opportunity to build love and excitement around your brand in a space where your audience is already “hanging out.”
Here are 4 quick and easy Facebook post ideas geared to build a connection between your hotel property and your guests.
Post a real-time photo of your property: Photos garner the most engagement in social media in comparison to other types of posts (links, promotional offers, videos, etc.). It gives people the opportunity to feel a connection with your property from afar. Even better, real-time photos allow people to imagine themselves right there. You are most likely sitting on a hot bed of amazing content, and all you need is a camera! Here are some ideas to get your mind brainstorming: holiday decorations in your lobby that were just set up; waves crashing outside a hotel suite; a fireplace aglow in your dining room; a sunset from your rooftop deck. All this can be paired with creative copy to entice your customers to engage.
Share customer testimonials: Do you have positive testimonials from visitors? Post a quote to show others how much your hotel is adored. Even better, create that quote into an image so it ranks higher in the Facebook algorithm because of it being an image. Don’t have a design team on hand? There are many free or close-to-free photo editing tools available with little time and design know-how necessary. Our favorites: PicMonkey (web) and TitleFX (iPhone). Share the small details – they count: Because you live and breathe your hotel property, sometimes it’s easy to forget how incredible the little things are to visitors. Do you get fresh flowers delivered to the front desk everyday? Snap a picture and describe how magnificent they smell. Does your hotel leave delicious chocolates on the bed that people crave? Get people craving across Facebook! Is your hotel eco-friendly? Talk about the importance of these initiates and briefly what goes on behind the scenes to make it possible. It’s the little things that sometimes make the difference: share those stories on social media.
Post about what’s happening in your city: People visiting will not only want to know what’s happening on-site, but what exciting events are happening outside the hotel. Perhaps there is an art show or a music festival happening later on this week. Find the link or create your own description and share it with your community. Great sources to find calendar event happenings are your local Visitor’s Center and Convention and Visitor’s Bureau websites or their social media pages.
